As part of the AtmosphèreS structuring project within the UMR 7061 PRISM (Perception, Representations, Image, Sound, Music), an interdisciplinary group of researchers watched Abbas Kiarostami's film 24 frames (2017) together. This article explores the issue of atmosphere in different forms of audiovisual representation, examined here through the prism of space. As atmosphere is a concept that is difficult to define disciplinarily, an interdisciplinary context is essential for crossing the reflections emerging from our different practices. Starting from a filmic analysis of a few frames, we move on to an analysis of the audiovisual object using a phenomenological approach. From Brueghel's painting to the creation of unreal space and empty space, considerations about the anthropocene take shape, opening up the political dimension of the work. Collaborative and interdisciplinary research contributes to the evolution of audiovisual language and establishes a shared theoretical foundation that may open the way to new forms of audiovisual or multimodal storytelling.
